Why a Foundation?

Public funding alone no longer keeps pace with the cost of modern fire and emergency response. A community foundation helps close that gap.

The Challenge

Fire districts across California face rising costs for equipment, technology, and training while revenue grows slowly and demands increase. The Tiburon Fire Protection District is no exception. Meeting today's standards for all-risk response, from cardiac emergencies to wildfire, requires tools and preparation that a fixed public budget cannot always fund on the timeline the community deserves.

A Proven Model

Communities have long used independent nonprofit foundations to strengthen the public services they rely on. Local school districts, libraries, and parks are supported this way. The Tiburon-Belvedere Firefighters Foundation applies the same approach to fire and emergency services, giving residents and businesses a direct way to invest in the safety of their own neighborhoods.

More Than a Fire Department

Today's firefighters respond to medical calls, traffic collisions, rescues, hazardous-materials incidents, and natural disasters, alongside structure and wildland fires. On the Tiburon Peninsula, where homes meet open space and the bay, that work also means wildfire prevention, evacuation readiness, and public education. The skills and equipment this requires keep expanding, and community support helps the District keep up.

Where Your Support Goes

The Foundation raises and directs private contributions and grants toward equipment, facilities, fire prevention, and training. Contributions are never used for salaries or benefits. Every gift stays local and supports the firefighters who serve Tiburon and Belvedere.
